Peter Weber joined Carpathia in 2008 from Sun Microsystems, where he served as senior vice president of Sun Services, leading the product group for the $5 billion global IT services business. Prior to joining Sun, Mr. Weber was Founder, President & CEO of SevenSpace, a venture-backed IT services start-up acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2005. SevenSpace provided managed hosting services to Global 2000 companies around the world. Prior to SevenSpace, Peter was a Vice President at The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm with more than $18 billion under management. At Carlyle, he focused on investments in the information technology services industry. Peter earned his Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts, where he graduated cum laude.
Bill Ranney
Chief Financial Officer
Bill Ranney is Chief Financial Officer at Carpathia Hosting. Bill is a seasoned senior financial executive with a long proven track record of success in both large and small companies. Bill held numerous senior finance positions over 15 years at Verizon, including vice president of its $1+ Billion directory publishing business and vice president responsible for the construction and launching of Verizon’s long distance voice and data network. Then as CFO for the IT Services start-up, SevenSpace, Bill drove the company to profitability within 24 months, during which time he orchestrated two acquisitions, rigorous management controls and multiple rounds of financing.
Philip Hedlund
Senior Director of Business Development
Philip Hedlund is the Senior Director of Business Development at Carpathia Hosting, where he establishes relationships between the company and it largest customers which increase customers' application availability and performance and decrease operating expense. Philip has more than 18 years experience in the IT services industry, most recently coming from Sun Microsystems in 2008, where Philip had global responsibility for Managed Services sales, increasing revenues by more than 70%. Philip came to Sun Microsystems in 2005 via it's acquisition of SevenSpace, a pioneer in remote, IT operations services.
Brent Bensten
Senior Director of Operations
Brent Bensten is Senior Director of Operations. Brent Bensten is an operations and datacenter specialist with over ten years experience in multiple Fortune 500 companies focusing on managed services operations. Most recently Brent has served as the Sr. Manager of Operations for Services at Sun Microsystems. Mr. Bensten manages a global IT operations team that has been instrumental in the streamlining of operations, building and delivery of strict Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compliance for more than 5,000 devices, and managing data centers around the world.
Rick Smith
Founder, Principal
Rick Smith founded Carpathia Hosting in 2002. Rick Smith is an operations and financial specialist. Rick previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer to Thruport Technologies and Chief Financial and Operating Officer to Worldstor, Inc., a storage service provider (SSP) company he co-founded in 1999. Prior to Worldstor, Rick was managing director/partner at Cassidy & Pinkard, a Washington-based commercial real estate firm.
