Since I have four quiet hours on the flight back from DC to Denver, I thought I'd use this time to catch up on a few blog posts and review some of our GSA cloud A&A content.
I fly United extensively (40k mile already this year) and the lack of WiFi on the flights is both a blessing and a curse. While I feel disconnected from the office, it does provide an excellent window to catch up on paperwork and produce content.
First up … the Cloud 101 event hosted by Digital Government Institute (DGI) and Cisco. I must compliment DGI on a very well run event. The execution was flawless from start to end with great attendance - probably 250 or so - and a good mix of civilian, defense and intelligence agencies. Also, I’d like to thank the Cisco team - especially Kapil - for the invite to join the panel, where everyone was very civilized and complementary. Federal events seem to have a very different tone compared to some of the commercial events I speak at - where it turns into the “wild west”.
General Meyerrose did indeed give an excellent keynote. It’s great to see someone so confident with their subject matter and cover 45 minutes of content in a very crisp way – without needing to be assisted by slides. I believe the on demand recording of his presentation and the entire event will surface online shortly. I'll provide a link once it becomes available.
Also this week, Network World published a Q&A covering our announcement of a few weeks back with Vyatta, an excellent partner of Carpathia Hosting. The story of flexible networking in the cloud and fine grain security controls has been very well received by our customers. John Dix, editor in chief, asked many probing questions (no pun intended) of our network strategy and the evolution of networking in the cloud. Check out the full article, Hosting firm taps software-based net tool to add granular cloud controls (note, registration required).
Finally, I'm deep in preparation for our Webinar on April 14 and 19 with another great partner, Equinix. The webinar titled “The Hybrid Cloud” will provide an opportunity for us to talk about how many of our customers are taking advantage of the amazing connectivity options inside the Equinix IBX's and our cloud platform to burst/link colo/managed/cloud environments together in a very seamless way.
The double-chimes are signaling … time to draw this post to an end.
