Company: Ceridian Health and Productivity Solutions
Industry: Global Human Resources Solutions
Carpathia Services: Managed Hosting, Compliance

Why Carpathia?

Background
A U.S. Department of Defense program, Ceridian’s Military OneSource service provides information and one-on-one support to all active duty, National Guard and Reserve personnel and their family members. These resources, available 24/7 via telephone and online, address the unique needs of the military community, such as deployment or reintegration support, as well as everyday issues including relationships, parenting, finances and health and well-being.

Challenge
As use of Military OneSource increased, with eligible users totaling over 2.7 million military personnel and their families across the world, security became an increasingly important area of concern for Ceridian. The company needed to find a hosting provider with experience managing federal systems with very sensitive data.

Approach
Carpathia Hosting was chosen by Ceridian to supply federally-compliant managed hosting services in support of Military OneSource. The solution design approach for Ceridian and the Military One Source system was crafted with security, high availability and reliability, as well as redundancy as key factors. Carpathia understands that the Military OneSource environment and set of applications is a mission-critical resource for its users. Therefore, the solution design and implementation approach that Carpathia took was one that exceeded the same mission-critical posture.

Solution
In order to provide end users with reliable access to the benefits of the Military OneSource system, the solution provided by Carpathia is built from the ground up with high availability and redundancy throughout. The highly-reliable infrastructure has redundancy at every layer -- from the network to the server architecture and storage components. The solution also includes a mirrored facility utilizing Carpathia’s Phoenix data center, providing the disaster recovery and continuity of operations (COOP) capabilities that are required to meet the government recovery point and recovery time objectives. Ceridian leverages IDS, IPS, and scanning solutions like Retina, Gold Disk, and Nexsus to maintain a highly secure environment.

“We needed to find a hosting provider with experience managing federal systems with very sensitive data. That, paired with Carpathia’s ability to successfully complete the certification and accreditation process and obtain an authority to operate (ATO), quickly distinguished Carpathia as our hosting company of choice.”
