New York has always been a very interesting market for Carpathia with many prospects having rigorous compliance requirements, one of our specialties. As such, I’ve been traveling to the Big Apple quite often over the past couple of months. This year we have doubled down in the NY/NJ area by adding additional sales resources and extending our data center footprint and network reach. Delivering close to 1TB/sec of managed bandwidth really puts Carpathia in the top echelon and makes for some very interesting discussions with prospects and customers.

Since I have four quiet hours on the flight back from DC to Denver, I thought I'd use this time to catch up on a few blog posts and review some of our GSA cloud A&A content.

Each year I'm fortunate enough to speak at several industry events. This week, I’ll be participating in the Digital Government hosted event "Cloud 101: A Call to Action”. The event takes place Wednesday, March 30 at the Reagan Building in DC.

Carpathia and Equinix are coming together to deliver complex and compliant solutions to our collective customers. Today we are bringing this relationship together in a more formal way to jointly sell, market and deliver these solutions to our customers - a first for our industry.

One constant theme I hear from our customers is the lack of real networking in cloud platforms. Sure there may be some perimeter security and most likely host-based vm filters – or perhaps maybe even some clever use of vswitches. Or in the case of vmware environments, hypervisor aware p-switches like those in the Cisco Nexus line. But at the end of the day, the capabilities networking capabilities in the cloud leave much to be desired.

While cloud will continue to be a dominant technology theme for 2011, it’s the tip of the iceberg for what we have planned. Carpathia sees cloud as a technology in our toolset - just like managed and colocation to help solve customer’s IT problems and reach new levels of efficiency.

Every September, players in the hosting industry gather at Tier1’s research conference, Hosting Transformation Summit North America in Las Vegas.

A quick update from San Diego airport on route back home to Denver. I spent the day at the Burton Group Catalyst #10 conference. I have to say, Burton did an excellent job of pulling this event together.

It seems these days that I blink and a couple of months have passed me by. The speed of innovation at Carpathia is amazing and the best part is that 100% of the efforts are all centered around our customers requirements. During one of my recent trips, I spent a very enjoyable hour chatting to an entrepreneur in residence at a bay area VC. The meeting ended with him making the comment “you are just having way too much fun”. I have to agree. So here are a few quick updates to bring you up to speed.
